Wire mix: Arushi Jain

March 2024

The composer and modular synthesist emerges from the sonic space of her new album Delight with a cleansing mix of music that inspires her

“Discovery is what guides my practice. That’s the core emotion,” New York based composer Arushi Jain tells Vanessa Ague in The Wire 482. “It is embedded in the different formats in how my brain works when I think about music, writing music, the discovery of the hardware, the curiosity around how this works or why it’s generating the kind of sound it’s generating.”

In her recent Wire interview modular synthesist Jain describes the environments and processes at play in her latest album Delight, and explains how the project aimed to bridge her many influences into one.

In order to share some of those influences with listeners she presents a Wire mix, which she describes as “myriad moods in 80 minutes, a reflection on the variety that has been on play lately. I was taught to learn by listening,” she continues, “and now that Delight is out in the world, I can exit my self-constructed sonic cocoon to cleanse my palette.”
