Organ Of Corti

The winning project of the PRS For Music Foundation's New Music Award 2010 is an acoustic instrument that transforms existing sounds into music. Designed by composer David Prior and architect Frances Crow (aka liminal). The Organ Of Corti is formed of metal cylinders which filter and recycle sounds such as road traffic noises and water falls. It hopes to offer new ways of listening to the acoustics of non-musical environments, and to redefine what a piece of music is. The Organ Of Corti will be premiered at the City Of London festival 2011 and is supported by the PRS for Music Foundation. Click here to watch an interview with Crow and Prior.
