Morphine Records prepares a showcase of Indonesian music at Berghain and record by one of the acts
Over the next four months, Morphine Records, the label run by Rabih Beaini aka Morphosis, will host five events showcasing music from Indonesia to be held at Berlin’s famous Berghain club. The series is an extension of Belgium's Europalia Festival, who, as reported last month, have also set up a selection of events in London.
For the Berghain series titled Raung Raya, Beaini has organised a line-up consisting of Otto Sidharta, Karinding Attack, Ata Ratu, Iwan Gunawan Ensemble, Al Suwardi’s Planet Harmonik Ensemble, Senyawa and others. More information on individual events is available via Facebook.
In addition, the label has also announced a new album from Tarawangsawelas, a musical duo from Bandung who perform contemporary Tarawangsa, a form of sacred music from West Java. Called Wanci, it's set to be released tomorrow on 5 October. They'll be performing at Raung Raya on 5 November. Tickets for Raung Raya are available via Resident Advisor, including a five event bundle for 60 Euros.
