Tricky publishes autobiography Hell Is Round The Corner

Bristol’s Knowle West boy shares his story in new book

Written in collaboration with music journalist Andrew Perry, Hell Is Round The Corner documents the life of pioneering record producer and rapper Tricky. Featuring contributions from family members, music industry types and musicians such as Terry Hall and Shaun Ryder, the book chronicles his birth in the Bristol area of Knowle West in the late 1960s, his teenage years in the 1980s and his role in the city’s sound system scene – notably his work with The Wild Bunch sound system, which evolved into Massive Attack – and his move to Los Angeles. It also talks about the loss of his mother, who killed herself when he was four years old.

Tricky launched his solo career in 1995, releasing Maxinquaye on 4th & B’way and then signing to Island Records. To date he has released 13 studio albums, the most recent being 2017’s Ununiform on his own imprint False Idols.

Hell Is Round The Corner is published on 31 October by Bonnier.
