Fennesz Announces First Solo Release Since Black Sea

New material from Fennesz will be released on 10" by Touch next month. Seven Stars, a four track EP, will be first new solo material from Fennesz since Black Sea in 2008. The four tracks are between three and seven minutes long, and were largely recorded in January in Vienna.

Fennesz says: "I recorded and mixed the album within three weeks. "Liminal" and "July" were existing pieces which I have reworked. (I wrote an early version of "Liminal" in a hotel room in Bali in 2010). My friend Steven Hess happened to be in Vienna at the time of the sessions, so I invited him to join me in the studio. I wanted to make a record that has a certain lightness about it and at the same time explore new territory using drums on one track."

Seven Stars will be released on 10" and as a digital download, with a CD release planned for later in the year.
