“Graphic art provides the input and the output will sound literally unheard of,” says Letra / Tone festival

This March Andrea Belfi & sound artist Jessica Ekomane, Demdike Stare, and Schneider TM will present interpretations of works by graphic artists

Between 8 & 10 March, Radialsystem in Berlin will host Letra/Tone Festival for Graphics and Music. The experimental festival will have a host of artists interpreting works provided by a roster of international graphic artists through a set of performances and an accompanying exhibition.

Following in the footsteps of composers like Earle Brown, Morton Feldman, John Cage or Karlheinz Stockhausen, the festival hopes to pick up where they left off, continuing the tradition of experimenting with alternative notational systems.

Artists on the line up include Andrea Belfi & sound artist Jessica Ekomane, Demdike Stare, percussionist Robyn Schulkowsky, turntablist Dieb 13, JASSS, electro duo Blotter Trax (Magda and TB Arthur), Magda Mayas, Schneider TM and Jimi Tenor & Nefertyti.

Graphic scores will be provided by Anke Fesel, Daniela Burger, Joe Gilmore, Julie Gayard, Katja Gretzinger, Scott Massey, Stefan Gandl, TS Wendelstein and Sulki & Min. There will also be an audio-visual installation by Hanno Leichtmann and Toby Cornish. Baby Vulture, Mieko Suzuki and Judith Crasser will DJ in between shows.
