Scott Walker collaborating with Sunn O)))

4AD have launched a site for a collaboration between Stephen O'Malley's Sunn O))) and Scott Walker. A source from the label is quoted as saying that Sunn O))) and Walker are "working together, and there is a record coming later in the year".

No more details have been announced, although there is a microsite for the Walker & Sunn O))) project here.

This could be good or it could be terrible. The sample I hear sounds ok, better than scott's last solo album. Still not as good as Nurse with Wound or Paul Armlen or a number of other artist.

On the evidence of this one sample track Scott Walker is in a groove he can't escape from. You can find similar tracks on Climate of Hunter or Tilt or Bisch Bosch (which I couldn't bear to buy) with similar arrangements and the same anxious shouted lyrics.

I'd like to continue to listen to his work, since he's one of the few experimental music makers from the pop heritage, but it's time he rediscovered melody and moderation. He could maybe give Bjork a call.
