Laurie Anderson and David Byrne in residence at A Room For London

Opening this month is Sounds From A Room, a series of performances from a boat-shaped one bedroom structure built on top of the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall for the duration of 2012.

The boat, the Roi Des Belges, will host a series of shows by David Byrne, Laurie Anderson, Andrew Bird, Heiner Goebbels, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Amadou & Mariam, Imogen Heap and others. All shows will be simulcast to screens in the Royal Festival Hall and streamed live online. David Byrne takes up residence on top of the Southbank from 17–19 February, followed by Jeremy Deller on 23 March, Laurie Anderson on 25 March and Fiona Banner performing Orson Welles's screenplay of Heart Of Darkness which was written but never filmed.

The boat is available to rent for one night stays (although it's sold out at time of writing), and will also be broadcasting a discussion series (more info here). For full details on the project head here.
