Oren Ambarchi’s Black Truffle label passes the 50 mark with – take a deep breath – In The Past Only Geniuses Were Capable Of Staging The Perfect Crime (Also Known As A Revolution) Today Anybody Can Accomplish Their Aims With The Push Of The Button. Edited from a two hour set at the now defunct Tokyo venue SuperDeluxe in November 2015, the 78 minute album features Keiji Haino on guitar, electronics and vocals, Jim O'Rourke on six-string bass and hammond organ, and Ambarchi on drums, percussion and flute. Recorded by Masahide Ando and produced by SuperDeluxe’s Mike Kubeck, it’s the trio’s ninth album since they first started collaborating together in 2009.
Below is a video for the album's fourth track. Directed by film maker Ivan Weiss, it includes footage from their 2015 SuperDeluxe gig. Also forthcoming on Black Truffle is Sarah Hennies’ Reservoir 1.
