The Art Ensemble Of Chicago saxophonist and poet Joseph Jarman’s anthology Black Case Volume I And II: Return From Exile covers his writings from 1960–75, including his manifesto for Great Black Music, notated songs, concert programme notes, a selection of photos and his thoughts on a play by Muhal Richard Abrams, the founder of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, of which Jarman was also a member.
