Strange Attractor publish Savage Pencil's Trip Or Squeek collection

Mark Pilkington's Strange Attractor press is publishing a collection of Savage Pencil's cartoon strips for The Wire later this year. The book is titled Savage Pencil Presents Trip Or Squeek's Big Amplifier can be ordered here.

Mark Pilkington says: "The book is presented in landscape format, Andy Capp style, with a single strip – and where relevant, accompanying notes – on each spread. It will have a hand-drawn foreword by New York artist Gary Panter. This is very exciting for me – I still whip out my DVDs of Pee Wee's Playhouse, on which Gary was set designer.

"On a personal level, Edwin's art and writing have been a continuous part of my cultural life since the late 1980s, when I was reading Sounds and buying Shock Records 7"s featuring his cover art, and his Angel Dust biker music compilation on Blast First."

The first 200 copies of the book will come with a set of Trip Or Squeek postcards, with the first 50 signed and sketched on by Savage Pencil.

Trip Or Squeek has been running in The Wire since 2002, and the book will include over 100 strips, plus an interview with Savage Pencil by The Wire's Tony Herrington. More details imminent over at Strange Attractor.
