Updated version of field recording app available
The second edition of the field recording app FoundSounds has just been published. The on the hoof field recording and collage project run by Canadian artist David Jensenius was originally released in November 2014. The recent update adds additional functions such as an elongated recording time and compatibility with various other Apple products including the Apple watch and Apple TV. Jensenius states, “The app allows users to record and share sounds they find intriguing, surprising, or even disruptive. Recordings are geotagged, so users can browse sounds by scrolling through a timeline or exploring a map. Additional avenues of exploration include the ability to construct a geographically specific sound collage or to go for a sound walk, taking in nearby sounds as one passes them.”
The app can record up to two minutes of sound, and it’s available as a free download.
