Morton Feldman music, Ellen Arkbro and Splitter Orchester at klub katarakt

Hamburg based klub katarakt festival happening between 15–18 January

Klub katarakt was conceived in 1992 by a group of composition students from Hamburg Music Academy who wanted to perform their work in spaces not usually frequented by classical music. In 2005 klub kataract expanded into a festival, and 2020's edition will include the audiovisual installation Passage, featuring musicians Lisa Lammel, Jonathan Shapiro, André Wittmann, Fiona McKenzie, Daria Iossifova, John Hughes, ensemble Nelly Boyd and the Harvestehuder Kammerchor under the direction of Edzard Burchards; a lecture and solo performances from Ellen Arkbro; Splitter Orchester & The Pitch performing Frozen Orchestra; Morton Feldman's Piano And String Quartet for Kronos Quartet and pianist Aki Takahashi (1985) performed by Lammel, Desheng Chen, Lucas Schwengebecher, Michael Heupel and Jan Feddersen; and a selection of new compositions and experimental films from the katarakt network.

Klub katarakt runs from 15–18 January.
