Hackney Wicked called off due to soaring production costs

The East London based arts festival and open studios have been cancelled

Arts festival Hackney Wicked has been cancelled because of “ever-increasing production costs" which it described as necessary to manage the event, in line with requests from various authorities and so that they are able to host a "safe, professional event". A statement went on to say: "Thousands of pounds have previously been spent on waste disposal, security, street cleaning and the general infrastructure required to manage the 30,000 plus crowds that attend the festival each year.”

The festival will take 2015 off to re-evaluate its activities. It plans to return with a series of smaller scale events showcasing local artists’ work.
