Richard Skelton, Jennifer Walshe, Lina Lapelyte, Rie Nakajima, Philip Clark up for Arts Foundation Awards

Richard Skelton, Jennifer Walshe, Lina Lapelyte and Rie Nakajima have been shortlisted for the Arts Foundation Awards in the Experimental Music category. Judges on the panel for the Experimental Music section include Brian Eno, Cafe Oto's Hamish Dunbar and Sound And Music's Richard Whitelaw. All four artists will perform at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall on 14 January 2014. Wire contributor Philip Clark is also shortlisted in the Cultural Journalism section. The winners in each category receive £10,000, and the awards ceremony takes place at the end of January next year.

Drexciya film Hydra Decapita screening at Tate St Ives

Tate St Ives is currently showing The Otolith Group's Drexciya film Hydra Decapita, which uses footage shot in Cornwall, and takes the mythos of Drexciya's subaquatic survivors of slavery as a starting point. The film has never had an official screening in the UK before. It forms part of the exhibition Aquatopia, which includes work by a cross section of artists including Spartacus Chetwynd and JMW Turner. Aquatopia runs at Tate St Ives until 26 January 2014.

Two BBC Radiophonic Workshop records reissued by Music On Vinyl

Two BBC Radiophonic Workshop albums from 1968 and 1975 are being reissued on 180g vinyl. The former, BBC Radiophonic Music was originally released as a demonstration library record for BBC drama producers. The second, from 1975, compiled the Radiophonic Workshop's output up to that point. Notably, both records have been remastered by the Workshop's archivist Mark Ayres.

The Radiophonic Workshop will be performing live at the London Electronic Arts Festival (LEAF) in Shoreditch on 9 November. More on the releases here, and on the performance here.

Sunn O))) open online shop

After uploading their entire back catalogue to Bandcamp, Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson's Sunn O))) have opened up shop online, selling digital versions of all releases, and will serve all your doom apparel needs, where they'll be reprinting sold out designs and releases at the rate of four or five per year. The reissue programme begins with a deluxe 180g vinyl edition of Black One.

Demdike Stare score Haxan plus special edition of The Wire Salon for BFI Gothic Season

The Wire is partnering a weekend of events under the banner of Hauntology as part of the BFI's Gothic season 13–14 December. A special edition of The Wire Salon will take place, discussing the use of Gothic imagery and ideas ripped from occult and transgressive cinema (panelists TBC).

Demdike Stare will also perform a live score to Haxan: Witchcraft Through The Ages, plus Scanner's version of John Dowland's Lachrimae performed by Robin Rimbaud, Carter Tutti and Gazelle Twin. The weekend will also include a screening of The Stone Tape followed by a Q&A with director Peter Sasdy, plus an evening of theremin, vocals and automata with Sarah Angliss's Spacedog, Time Attendant and The Advisory Circle.

Free listening seminar series starting at Goldsmiths University

A series of listening seminars are taking place at Goldsmith's University in South East London. The seminars (which are open to the public) begin on 5 November, where there will be a presentation by Jonny Mugwump of recordings from his Exotic Pylon label. Following talks include Mark Fisher, English Heretic, RO/AD and Mika Hayashi Ebbesen. The seminars are free to attend and no registration or booking is required. More details on the series here.

Berlin's CTM festival announces first batch of acts for 2014

For its 15th edition, Berlin's CTM festival goes under the theme of Discontinuity. The first batch of confirmed acts include Buchla Music Easel player Charles Cohen, a showcase of electronic music pioneer Erkki Kurenniemi's work (which will include Mika Vainio playing his DIMI-A and Mika Taanila's documentary), plus Cyclobe, Mark Ernestus's Jeri-Jeri, Metasplice, Porter Ricks, Rodion GA and more to be announced. Photographs of late altoist Kaoru Abe exhibited in Tokyo

Photographer Yuji Itsumi (who has contributed to The Wire) is exhibiting his images of late improvising saxophonist Kaoru Abe in Tokyo. The images are taken from Itsumi's recently published book Out To Lunch, which documents his images of Abe, along with pictures taken in Berlin in the 1970s. The exhibition shows at Galaxy in Jingumae, Tokyo, 1–8 Nov. More info on the book here.
